The Vienna International School of Earth and Space Sciences (VISESS) at the Faculty of Earth Sciences, Geography and Astronomy addresses current societal challenges through inter- and trans-disciplinary academic research connecting the cosmos with planets & atmospheres including its environments and with the anthroposphere. We aim our students to become world-leading experts in either of these three branches while also confidently communicate and contribute across all three branches.
With the VISESS Completion Grants, the Vienna International School of Earth and Space Sciences (VISESS) aims to support its doctoral students during the final phase of their doctoral studies to focus on the completion and submission of their thesis. VISESS student members who were employed at the University of Vienna within the last six months before the start of the grant can apply for short-term finishing contracts of up to three months.

Your future tasks:
You actively participate in research, teaching & administration in the context of the successful completion of your thesis, which means:
- You finalise your dissertation according to your doctoral thesis agreement. We expect you to complete and submit your thesis at the end of the grant.
- You continue to participate in in research, teaching, administration, (co-)supervision of students, examination activities, evaluation activities and in quality assurance as appropriate in the context of the successful completion of your thesis
This is part of your personality:
- You are enrolled in the doctoral programme of DSPL45 and a student member of VISESS and you have agreed to the Code of Good Practice
- You have successfully passed your public presentation, submitted your dissertation agreement and since then submitted your annual progress reports
- You have shown active and regular participation in VISESS activities
- You can provide a convincing statement that the completion and submission of your thesis can be expected at the end of the grant
- You can provide a statement from your supervisory team on their commitment to support you in the final phase of your writing process
- You have ensured that there is no other funding source available
